Classic Elite Soccer Fields
About this Event
This is a San Antonio original, trail event. Start and finish at Starcrest Soccer Field across from Blossom Athletic Center, 13800 Starcrest, San Antonio 78247. The actual start is on top of the dam south of the police station for those who know the trails. It is about 1/4 mile from packet pickup and the finish at the soccer fields. This event starts in waves based on your estimated road 10K ability, fastest start first then the more leisurely runners. If you have never run a 10K, please run with the leisure crowd.
The course runs through heavily wooded dirt trails in the pitch dark. A flashlight or headlamp is required and extremely necessary. The trails can be very rocky with tree roots in places, as well as low branches so paying attention is critical. There are many opportunities to fall and get injured. This is not a trail run for beginners. It is up to you to provide your own lighting so you do not take a spill or run into a branch.
Trails are marked with signage and glow sticks in the trees. Glow sticks guide you along the trail but do not by any stretch illuminate the ground, so make sure you have a good headlamp and/or flashlight. All runners will receive a post race party lasting until midnight, a tech shirt, post race beer (for those of age), and bbq. This is a fun run so no awards will be given but overall results will be posted.

Parking (please read)
YOU MUST ARRIVE EARLY FOR THIS EVENT. Especially if you plan on race day packet pick up (see info below on Early Packet Pickup). There will be limited parking at the Start/Finish, Soccer Fields at 11600 Starcrest. It will probably fill by 7:30PM. Additional Parking and a shuttle will also be available from 7PM-1AM at the NE corner of Blossom Athletic Center parking lot. This is 1/2 Mile from the event. We will have a 55 person shuttle bus making a continuous round trip from this parking lot to the event starting at 7PM. Walking is also encouraged and will probably be necessary to late arrivers since the bus will be full. We will have the 1/2 mile walk to the event marked with cones and signage. Please follow the markings and do not cross the road until you get to the event entrance where a Bexar County Sheriff deputy will allow you to safely cross. NOTE: The start will be a 1/4 mile walk from packet pick up so please allow yourself enough time. If you park at Blossom Athletic Center and need to pick up your packet, you may need to walk 1/2 mile to the event, wait to pick up your packet, and walk another 1/4 mile to the start. Please see map below for lay of the land and parking areas.
10K and 5K Courses
The 10K starts at 9:00 pm sharp in waves approx 2 min apart ea. The 10K has 2 water stops on the course. Each wave is based upon those people’s 10K road racing ability.
Each runner will have 2 hrs to complete the course. This is a 19:21 pace per mile for the 10K and a 38:41 pace for the 5K. If you cannot run this pace do not sign up for this event.
Early Packet pickup (STRONGLY RECOMMENDED) will be held at Run On! at Stone Oak and Hardy Oak on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 10:00 am–6:00 pm and Friday, July 27, 2011, 10:00 am–noon. Race day packet pickup will be held at Blossom Golf Center , 13800 Jones Maltsberger Rd, San Antonio 78247 from 7PM – 8:45PM. Note: If you choose to pick up your packet on race day please plan to arrive EARLY especially if you have to park at Blossom and walk to packet pick up, and to the start, you should allow yourself at least 40 minutes cushion.
Post Race Party
We hold our post race party at Classic Elite Soccer Field @ 11600 Starcrest Rd, San Antonio 78216. This is directly across the street from Gardenville. The party will offer music, beer, refreshments, and catered bbq until 12:30 am. Each runner will have a tab at the bottom of their bib stating “Chupacabra Dinner”—that is your meal ticket. Hand it to our food volunteer and begin grubbing. Please take one plate NOT resembling a volcano and one trip only please. We want everyone to eat. If you have non-running guests, their food is $12 available through online entry only. We may not have extra meals available on race day as we schedule ahead with our caterer. The Shuttle Bus will run from 7PM until 1AM to get you safely back to vehicles parked at Blossom. If you wish to walk, please cross at the Starcrest entrance to the Soccer Fields where a Bexar County Sherrif deputy will stop traffic.
