About Coach Gary
Gary Brimmer is a personal running coach with over 17 years of coaching experience. Gary has coached at multiple age group levels and has guided numerous runners to all levels of success.
Gary found his passion for this sport through his own success and failure. He has been a competitive distance runner since the age of 12. He was a top high school runner, represented the US Army in inter-service competitions, and is a two time member of the United States Military World Cross Country Team. To date he has completed 27 marathons and countless races of varying distances. He is the 1996 USA Track and Field Men’s National 50k Trail Champion.
Gary realized that he also had a passion for coaching runners. He began coaching adults in 1999 when he was stationed in Hawaii with the US Army. As a 22 year career Army Non Commissioned Officer, Gary has a direct and “firm” way of coaching. He found early on that if he simply became a mentor, teacher, and motivator the runners responded well beyond what they ever originally believed they could.
Gary’s athletes have had success at all levels. His runner’s include those who are high school state champions, individual marathon winners, as well as Olympic Trials Qualifiers. However he has just as much success with runners whose goals range from fitness improvement to qualifying for The Boston Marathon.
