KidsRunSA
Kids Run San Antonio (KRSA) is a community driven program emphasizing the importance of exercise in a fun non-competitive environment. Participation is free and consists of weekly runs at Brandeis High School. Kids will have the opportunity to participate and challenge themselves in a non-competitive, positive environment.
The program is the brain child of local runner and educator, Michele Guyer. In 2011 Michele was inspired to support kids in their participation of the ING Kid’s Rock event. The ING Kids Rock event is held in conjunction with the Rock’n'Roll San Antonio Marathon & Half Marathon.
The two coaches for the program are Michele Guyer and Sonny Villarreal. They are parents with a passion for running. Like all parents they are in the spot light for their own children, setting an example, and mentoring them. They are driven by the ability to be able to encourage and motivate children to develop healthy and obtainable life skills.
Kids Run San Antonio is a running group that is basic and simplistic. We will set goals each week and keep a running log. We want to teach children at a young age it is important to stay physically fit. We want to teach them to find a natural outlet through running. Michelle and Sonny have been runners for over 30 years as competitors, recreational runners, coaches and simply want to share their love of running and share how it can build character, discipline and self expression. A childs expression of self-satisfaction and pride is priceless.
